Winchester Printers Receives Virginia's Top Print Award for Fifth Consecutive Year

At the 47th annual Printing Industries of Virginia (PIVA) awards banquet held in Williamsburg, VA in late January 2007, Winchester Printers, Inc. of Winchester, VA was honored as the top Class II printer in the state. Class II printers have less than 50 employees and produce their work on presses having 2 to 6 units of color. 

Winchester Printers received a total of 20 first place awards and 42 awards of excellence in the annual state-wide competition in which printed pieces were judged by a panel of members from the GATF (Graphics Arts Technical Foundation). Virginia printing companies can enter up to 125 entries in over 30 categories in the competition.

With the total number of awards given, Winchester Printers received the Dietz Memorial Award, presented to the printer earning the most points in their class in the competition. Winchester Printers has won the Dietz Award during the last five years of competition.

Winchester Printers receives Virginia's top printing award for third consecutive year

The 45th Annual Printing Industries of Virginia (PIVA) awards banquet, held on January 29, 2005 in Williamsburg, VA, again honored Winchester Printers, Inc. of Winchester, VA as the top class II printer in the state.  Class II printers have less than 50 employees and produce their work on presses having 2 to 6 units of color.  Winchester Printers received a total of 31 First Place awards and 37 Awards of Excellence in the annual state-wide competition in which pieces were judged by a panel of members from the GATF (Graphic Arts Technical Foundation).  Virginia printing companies can enter up to 125 entries in over 30 different categories in the competition.

With their total number of awards given, Winchester Printers, Inc. received the Dietz Memorial Award, presented to the printer earning the most points in their class in the competition.  This is the fifth time in the company’s history and the third consecutive year that Winchester Printers, Inc. has been honored with the Dietz Memorial Award.  In addition to the individual awards, Winchester Printers, Inc. was honored with a special GATF Special Merit Award for a brochure produced for the Henkel Harris Co., a furniture manufacturer in Winchester, VA.  The brochure was designed by Erkel and Associates of Crozet, VA.

The Wayside Theatre in Middletown, VA honored Winchester Printers on June 6 with a Leo award, presented annually to board members and patrons of the arts who have contributed to the success of the theater.  The company has supported Wayside as a sponsor and a supplier of printed material.  (read the full story)

Winchester Printers receives Virginia's top printing award for second straight year

The 44th Annual Printing Industries of Virginia (PIVA) Awards Banquet, held on January 24, 2004 in Williamsburg, VA, again honored Winchester Printers, Inc. as the top class II printer in the state.  Class II printers have less than 50 employees and two to six color presses.  Winchester Printers received 22 First Place Awards and 41 Awards of Excellence, easily dominating their class.

In addition to the individual awards, Winchester Printers was honored with the Best in Show Award for the 2003 Henkel Harris Portfolio designed by Erkel and Associates.  They received the GATF (Graphic Arts Technical Foundation) Special Merit Award for a folder produced for the Corporate Council on Africa and designed by Paul Fisher Productions.  Their total number of awards entitled them to the Dietz Memorial Award, presented to the printer earning the most points in their class in the competition.  This is the fourth time in the company's history and the second year in a row that Winchester Printers, Inc. has been honored with the Dietz Award.

Winchester Printers was also recognized for receiving a Certificate of Merit in the Worldwide Print Competition hosted by the Printing Industries of America (PIA).

In recognition of the team effort necessary to produce award-winning printing, Winchester Printers invited their entire staff and spouses to the celebration.

 


Winchester Printers completes integration of Winchester Mailing Services and Dwyier Associates, Inc.

January 1, 2004

Winchester Printers, Inc. has completed the successful integration of Dwyier Associates, Inc. of Front Royal, VA into its own bulk mailing business, Winchester Mailing Services.  Dwyier Associates, Inc. is a mail house with over 50 years of experience in mail processing and fulfillment.  All mailing operations will be performed at the Winchester plant. 

 


Winchester Printers, Inc. Receives Certificate of Merit in Worldwide Print Competition

Winchester Printers, Inc. of Winchester, Virginia received an award for outstanding achievement in Product Catalogs in the 2003 Premier Print Awards, the graphic arts industry’s largest and most prestigious worldwide printing competition hosted by the Printing Industries of America (PIA), Incorporated, the world’s largest graphic arts association, headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia.

Competing against nearly 5,000 entries from printing and graphic arts firms from around the world, Winchester Printers received a Certificate of Merit, a recognition given to those entries that have achieved extremely high levels of quality in printing.  Winchester Printers’ winning submission was the 2003 Portfolio for Henkel Harris of Winchester designed by Erkel & Associates of Crozet, Virginia.

“We are so proud of our winning team,” said Ron Hottle, President of Winchester Printers.  “It’s an honor to be recognized by the industry as a company that produces top quality, award winning materials.”

Michael Makin, chief executive officer of PIA, agrees.  “The field of entries was very impressive this year.  The hard work and determination of Winchester Printers enabled them to produce an award winning piece in the face of some very stiff competition.”

The Premier Print Awards is the printing industry’s oldest and largest worldwide graphic arts competition.  In its 53rd year, the competition recognizes those responsible for the creation and production of print communications.  The competition promotes excellence in print communications and rewards companies and individuals who produce the best in print media.

PIA, the host of the Premier Print Awards, is the world’s largest graphic arts trade association, representing an industry with more than 1 million employees and $156 billion in annual sales.

 


Winchester Printers well represented in PIVA leadership

Winchester Printers has a long history of leadership within the local community and the state printing industry.  Chris Hottle, Winchester Printers' production manager, has been named to the board of directors of the Printing Industries of Virginia (PIVA) for 2003-2004.  Ron Hottle, company president and former chairman of the PIVA board, serves as Charter Member / Member-at-Large of the Virginia Printing Foundation. 

PIVA is a membership organization of printers and graphic communications businesses within the Commonwealth that represents the industry in legislative affairs and facilitates the sharing of best practices and guidance on market and technological developments.  For more information, see www.piva.com.

 


Winchester Printers dominates in PIVA printing competition

Last weekend, printers from all over the state of Virginia gathered in Williamsburg for the 43rd Annual Printing Industries of Virginia (PIVA) Printing Convention.  Among the weekend festivities was the Best In Print Awards Banquet, honoring excellence in printing from the past year.  All of the judging was done by representatives from the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF).  A local printer, Winchester Printers, Inc., topped the class II award winners by earning a total of 75 awards, including the two most distinguished awards, Best In Show and the Dietz Memorial Award.  Class two is comprised of printing firms employing less than 50 employees with two to six color press capabilities. 

The Best In Show Award is presented for the printed piece which stands out as the best in its class.  Winchester Printers won the Best In Show Award in class two for Henkel Harris’ “Portfolio Supplement” designed by Erkel Associates. 

The Dietz Memorial Award is presented to the printer in each class who earns the most points in the competition.  Points are earned each time a printer is awarded a First Place or an Award of Excellence.  This year marks the third time that Winchester Printers has won the Dietz Memorial Award, winning previously in 1959 and 1967. 

In addition to their Best In Show and Dietz Memorial Award, Winchester Printers was honored with 34 First Place Awards and 39 Awards of Excellence.
